Victor Andres Garzon Vergara

Director

Víctor Andrés is a Mining and Metallurgy Engineer from the National University of Colombia (2009), Master in Engineering Sciences with a mention in Metallurgy from the Universidad Católica del Norte (2011, Antofagasta - Chile) and Diploma in Mining Business Management from the Universidad Católica de Chile (2020).


In his professional practice, he has been a mine and plant operations engineer, mine planning engineer, as well as head of engineering in gold and copper mining companies in Colombia and Chile. He has also worked as contract administrator engineer for Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) projects in the mining sector.


Since 2014, he has complemented his professional practice by addressing issues on mineral economics and development economics; and has been co-organizer and rapporteur of courses and seminars on mining taxation with the World Bank, the Inter-American Center of Tax Administrations (CIAT), German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).


In his work he has covered different jurisdictions in Latin America and the Caribbean, and his markets of interest are mainly copper, gold, lithium and energy.
